Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent a sheet member from being cut off and sunk into water by the earth pressure by providing weaker portions at the fixing portions of the sheet member, in a sand protecting sheet used for covering the inside surface of a pier at a reclamation site or the like.
CONSTITUTION: A sheet member 1 consisting of a polyvinyl chloride sheet, canvas or the like is fixed to a pier body 2 with fixing members 3. Weaker portions 6 capable of being cut off or stripped by a force smaller then that required for cutting off the sheet member 1 are provided between the free-end edge 5 of the sheet membe 1 and the fitting portions 4 for fitting the fixing members 3 to the sheet member 1. When the inside surface of the pier body 2 is covered with the sheet member 1 and then earth is placed for reclamation, a cutting force may possible be applied to the sheet member 1 due to the pressure of earth accumulated on the sheet member 1. However, since the support members 6b constituting the weaker portions 6 are sequentially cut off or stripped before the sheet member 1 is cut off, the sheet member 1 is protected against cutting and the free-end edge 5 of the sheet member 1 is prevented from sinking into water.
