Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:An azo compound of the formula (wherein X is halogen).
USE: A pharmaceutical, exerting diuretic, hypertensive, cardiac action, etc. A precursor for a disperse dye and a basic dye.
PREPARATION: A diazonium salt of 4-halogeno-2-aminoanisole (A) is obtained by the diazotization of a 4-halogeno-2-aminoanisole (e.g.; 4-chloro-2-aminoanisole, 4- fluoro-2-aminoanisole), with sodium nitrite and hydrogen chloride. Titled compound is obtained by the coupling with 5W10mol/mol of the diazonium salt (A), of imidazole (B), in the presence of sodium hydroxide and sodium acetate.
