Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a coating which can form films having excellent durability by electrodeposition, and comprises a copolymer of aminoethylstyrene and an acrylic acid derivative.
CONSTITUTION: A linear copolymer consisting of repeating units represented by formula II and repeating units represented by formula II, wherein R1W2 are H, alkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl, R3 is H, methyl, halogen, carboxymethy or alkoxyl, R4 is H, alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl, aryl, arylalkyl, haloalkyl, hydroxyalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, glycidyl or dialkylaminoalkyl. The copolymer is prepared by copolymerizing a monomer represented by formula III with a monomer represented by formula IV.
