1405540 Acrylic monomers CIBA-GEIGY AG 29 June 1973 [12 July 1972] 31160/73 Heading C3P [Also in Division C2] A homo- or co-polymer having a recurring structural unit of the formula wherein n is an integer greater than 4, are prepared by polymerizing, optionally in the presence of a polymerizable co-monomer, an acrylic acid ester of the formula wherein Z is a divalent radical of the formula wherein X 1 , X 2 , X 3 and X 5 each denote a hydrogen atom or an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, araliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon radical, or X 1 and X 2 together denote a tetramethylene or pentamethylene radical; X 4 and X 6 are hydrogen or alkyl; R 1 and R 3 are hydrogen or methyl; R 2 is hydrogen, alkyl, phenyl or alkoxyalkyl; or R 2 and R 3 together denote the trimethylene or tetramethylene radical.
