Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the luminous efficiency of a discharge lamp by injecting fibrous glass from an opening part of a melting pot by a centrifugal force caused when the melting pot melting glass is revolving inside a discharge lamp and filling uniformly the inside of melting pot with the injected fibrous glass. CONSTITUTION:A melting pot 3 made of Pt-Rh is heated by moving a heating furnace 1 upwards and glass 4 housed inside is melted. After that, moving the heating furnace 1 downwards by the operation of an air cylinder 2 and arranging a discharge bulb 5, the melting pot 3 is revolved at a high speed by a motor 6. An opening hole is provided in the inside wall of the melting pot 3. The melted glass 4 is injected from the hole by a centrifugal force and the inside of the bulb 5 is filled uniformly with fibrous glass.
