Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the use of a small capacity thyristor for controlling by connecting an AC side terminal of a bridge-connected diode connected with a parallel circuit of a capacitor and a resistor to a DC side terminal in parallel with a phase controlling capacitor. CONSTITUTION:A bidirectional thyristor 2 is connected in series with a load 1, a trigger element 3 is connected to the gate of the thyristor 2, and the other end of the trigger element is connected to the connecting point of a resistor 4 and a capacitor 5. An AC side terminal of a diode 6 connected in bridge is connected through a resistor 7 across the capacitor 5, and the DC side terminal thereof is connected in parallel with a capacitor 8 and a resistor 9. When a power supply is turned on, an electric current flowing through the resistor 4 charges the capacitor 8 together with the capacitor 5. In this manner, since it takes long time when the voltage of the capacitor 5 reaches a breakover voltage of the trigger element 3, it can prevent the overcurrent when closing the power supply so as to lower the rated value of the thyristor 2.
