Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the disconnection accidents of optical fibers by disposing defining members which define the lengthwise elongation of an optical fiber bundle body between the mouthpieces secured to both ends of said body and so constituting these that their elongating force is not directly exerted to the optical fibers.
CONSTITUTION: Four wires 6aW6d as defining members are disposed between the mouthpieces 3A, 3B of an optical fiber bundle 2 which secure both end parts of the external-packaging tube 24 of the optical fiber bundle 2, in the vertical and lateral positions of the optical fiber bundle 2 along its lengthwise direction. These wires 6aW6d are formed by metals, synthetic resins, synthetic rubber, cotton yarn, silk yarn, etc. and according to their materials, they are fixed at their both ends to the mouthpieces 3A, 3B by soldering, brazing, welding, press-fixing, bonding, etc. The lengths of the wires 6aW6d are so selected that when their elongating force acts upon the optical fiber bundle 11 it will not act directly upon the optical fiber bundle body 2. In this way, the disconnection accidents of the optical fibers may be prevented.
