Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce a heat loss during combustion and after its stoppage and heighten thermal efficiency, by providing a heat exchange pipe which is fitted with a burner and horizontally extends through a tank. CONSTITUTION:A heat exchange pipe 4, both the ends of which are open and contains baffle plates 8 in plural stages, is horizontally laid through the side of a tank 1 to which a water feed pipe 2 and a hot water discharge pipe 3 are coupled. A burner 5 is attached to one end of the pipe 4 and a lid 7 having a drawn exhaust port 6 is attached to the other end. When the burner 5 is caused to perform combustion, combustion gas is released to an exhaust cover 10 through the heat exchange pipe 4 and the exhaust port 6. When the combustion gas passes through the pipe 4, water in the tank 1 is heated. At that time, the entire peripheral surface of the heat exchange pipe 4 comes into contact with the water in the tank 1 because the pipe extends through a lower appropriate portion of the tank 1. While the combustion is stopped, no draft action is caused in the heat exchange pipe.
