Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the overadjustment of shoe clearance by a method wherein when the pressure within the pressure chamber of a wheel cylinder exceeds a predetermined value, a plunger protrudes in resistance to an elastic body, and comes into abutment with an adjustor lever to stop the shoe clerance adjusting operation.
CONSTITUTION: When the shoe clearance is increased in accordance with the lining wear of the brake shoe, and the piston 2 of a wheel cylinder 1 slides by exceeding a predetermined value, a connecting rod 9 moves in the direction shown by arrow 10. By this movement, an adjustor lever 6 is rotated in the direction shown by arrow 11, to rotate an adjusting gear 3, whereby a sleeve nut 4 proceeds to make the shoe clearance adequate. Upon this occasion, when the pressure in the pressure chamber of the cylinder 1 exceeds a predetermined value, a plunger 14 protrudes against the force of a spring 13, and pushes up the adjustor lever 6. As a result, the lever 6 is disengaged from the gear 3, and thus the overadjustment of the clearance is prevented.
