Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an optimum mooring condition in accordance with the ocean conditions by a method wherein at least one intermediate sinker capable of containing and discharging water is attached to the chain connecting a seabed anchor with the offshore floating stucture, and the weight of the sinker can be controlled.
CONSTITUTION: The offshore floating structure 1 is connected and moored to the seabed anchors 3 by mooring chains 2. At least one intermediate sinker 4 is provided at the middle portion of each of the mooring chains 2. The intermediate sinker 4 is a pressure vessel made mainly of reinforced concrete as structural material, and its interior is so constructed as to be capable of containing and discharging water. Accordingly, the weight of the intermediate sinker 4 is controllable by charging water into it and discharging water out of it, and the mooring of the offshore floating structure 1 can be kept in an optimum condition by thus controlling the weight of the sinkers 4 in accordance with the changes in the depth of the water and in the ocean conditions.
