Abstract

PURPOSE: To make strength higher by interposing reinforcing layers of high tensile strength and low coefficient of thermal expansion such as glass fibers between shell layers and firing these.
CONSTITUTION: In a ceramic shell mold reiteratively applied with shell layers by refractory material coating and sanding, the reinforcing layer II formed on the uppermost surface of the shell layer I is constituted by the layer IIb formed by coating a refractory material slurry coating layer 3 on the top surface of the final sanding layer 2 of the shell layer I and blowing fibrous materials of high tensile strength and low coefficient of thermal expansion, for example, glass fibers 4, on the top surface thereof and the shell layer IIa comprising the refractory material slurry coating layer and sanding layer on this tufted layer IIb. One or more layers of such reinforcing layers are provided in the entire layer of the shell mold. When the mold is molded and is fired at 950W1000°C after removing the pattern IV by extinction, the glass is melted and impregnates among the refractory material particles, thereby enhancing the strength.
