Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a link chain having high strength, toughness and wear resistance by directly inserting the link chain having been carburized or carbonitrided into melt liquid of the specific component composition.
CONSTITUTION: The link chain comprising iron and steel is carburized or carbonitrided, after which it is directly inserted into the melt liquid of the composition comprising 32W60% Pb, 35W63% Bi and 3W15% Cd preferably at ≤250°C in the state of that atmosphere, whereby it is cooled. This makes it possible to obtain the link chain which is tough and has wear and corrosion resistances. In addition, this method allows the combination of heat treatment and plating into one treatment and therefore the considerable reduction in the treating process is made possible.
