PURPOSE:To perform simultaneous transmission of Kana/Kanji efficiently, by transmitting Kana code in addition to Kanji code at a transmission side and selecting either one of them with an I/O mode at a reception side. CONSTITUTION:In a subscriber terminal device having a Kanji display device 4 and providing terminals which transmit Kana and Kanji simultaneously, if a code first received is a Kana/Kanji simultaneous transmission code, the Kanji is selected with the 1st code memory 2, the Kanji pattern is produced with a Kanji pattern generator 3 and displayed 4. On the other hand, if the transmission request is present with a keyboard 5, the corresponding code is fed to the 2nd code memory 6. Further, the content of the memory 6 is converted into the Kanji code with a Kana/ Kanji converter 7, the content is fed to the memory 2 and displayed 4 via the generator 3 and confirmed. After that, the content of the memories 2, 6 is transmitted from a gate 8 and the terminal 1 added with the Kanji and Kana modes.
