Abstract
PURPOSE:To heat-treat only the cam face of a cylindrical cam so as to raise its hardness and wear resistance for lengthening its life by irradiation of lasers through a lasers irradiation opening onto a place corresponding to the face in contact with the cam face of a cylindrical cam. CONSTITUTION:A hollow ship-shaped member F is contacted with the cam face C1 of a cylindrical cam D to be heat-treated, and then lasers from a lasers generator 5 is irradiated onto the cam face C1 through the irradiation opening 8 on the side 9 of the ship-shaped member F for heating while turning the cam D. As the cam D turns, the ship-shaped member F is turned around a vertical center axle O2-O2.
