Abstract
PURPOSE:To lessen deterioration in S/N ratio due to a level difference of a reproduced signal and reduction in the quantity of light, by adjusting a spot diameter on a disk to the best state at any time according to the radius position of the spot. CONSTITUTION:The rotational frequency of a radical feed motor 15 is measured by a position detecting circuit 34: and the feed motor is driven through an amplifier 35, and a supporting base 39 for a diffusion lens 5 is also driven through a reduction gear 37 and a fine adjustment device 38. When the gain is so adjusted in advance that the best spot diameters are obtained at the internal circumference and external circumference of a disk 1, a spot diameter between the both is adjusted to the best value automatically. As the position of the spot gets closer and closer to the external circumference of the disk 1, the supporting base 39 for the diffusion lens 5 is moved as shown by an arrow 40 to increase the spot diameter. Consequently, deterioration in S/N ratio due to a level difference of a reproduced signal and reduction in the quantity of light is lessened.
