Abstract
PURPOSE: To purify Ar with smaller expenses for equipment and lower power consumption by applying a reduced pressure system adsorption method performing adsorption under pressure and desorption under reduced pressure, reducing the pressure of part of modified Ar leaving an adsorber to use it as a regenerating gas, and joining the gas to crude Ar after dehumidification.
CONSTITUTION: Air as starting material from a duct 10 is compressed with an air compressor 1 and separated into O2, N2 and crude Ar with an air separator 2. The crude Ar is compressed with an Ar compressor 4 through a cushion tank 3 and introduced into an Ar purifier 5, where gaseous H2 is added and reacted with O2 in the Ar to form water, and the water is discharged from a duct 16. The O2-free modified Ar is introduced into one of adsorbers 6A, 6B each applying a reduced pressure system adsorption method, e.g. into the adsorber 6A, and it is dehumidified and returned to the separator 2. The pressure of part of the modified Ar leaving the adsorber 6A is reduced, the gas is introduced into the adsorber 6B as a regenerating gas to desorb water, and it is fed to the tank 3 and joined to crude Ar. The modified Ar returned to the separator 2 is further purified and taken out as product Ar.
