Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the automatic switching time between the monaural and stereo modes, by supplying a stereo difference signal and an AM stereo display signal to an OR circuit and controlling a change-over swtich on the front stage of a matrix circuit with the output of the OR circuit. CONSTITUTION:For a broadcast station in a reception mode, both an AM stereo display signal ID and a stereo difference signal are produced simultaneously at the output terminal of a phase wave detecting circuit 7 due to change-over from a monaural to stereo broadcast and other factors. In such a case, the signal detecting time within the stereo difference signal band is much faster than the detecting time of the signal ID. Thus a stereo difference signal detecting circuit 13 works immediately, and the stereo difference signal is applied to a control signal generating circuit 16 via an OR circuit 15. This control signal closes a changeover swtich 10. The closed state of the switch 10 is maintained as long as an ID detection signal of an ID detecting circuit 14 is applied to the circuit 16 via the circuit 15 even when the stereo difference signal becomes zero.
