PURPOSE: To decide easily and surely whether valve clearance and so on are defective or not, by closing the upper-stream air sucking system by the intake manifold of the engine to drive the engine and by measuring negative pressure in the air sucking system.
CONSTITUTION: When engine 2 is fixed onto stand 511 through conveyor 1, the limit switch detects this fixing and pressed and fixed sealing metal lig 577 to carbulator 21 to close suction inlet 27. Next, coupler 583 is pressed to the first junction 41 to connect coupler 583 to a negative pressure measuring unit. Next, motor 562 moves to the right and transfers torqe to crank shaft 25 with a prescribed fixed number of rotations. Negative pressure is generated in intake manifold 26 of engine 2 by this motor ring, and negative pressure is measured through distributor negative pressure outlet 212 by the negative pressure measuring unit. By inspecting change of this negative pressure, it can be decided easily and surely whether valve clearance and valve timing are abnormal or not and the hermetic degree in the air sucking system and the combustion chamber is defective or not.
