Abstract

PURPOSE:To protect the surface of temp. sensing elements and to increase their sensitivity by disposing two pieces of shield plates which permit flowing only through both sides in the direction perpendicular to the axial and flow directions of the vortex generating body in front of the two temp. sensing elements provided on both sides of the front face of the vortex generating body. CONSTITUTION:This relates to a vortex flowmeter which measures the speed or rate of flow by measuring the frequencies generated by the vortexes alternately produced when fluid flowing in the vertex flowmeter passes both lateral sides of a vortex generating body 1, wherein temp. sensing elements 2 such as thermistors are provided on the front surface of the body 1 spacially in the direction intersecting orthogonally with the axis 0-0 of the body 1, and shield plates 3 are provided in front of the elements 2 in a manner as to permit the flow of fluid only through both sides 4, 4 in the direction perpendicular to the axial 0-0 and flow directions. Thereby, the elements 2 are perfectly protected, and the output signals of high outputs of superior waveform shaping are obtained.
