Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a large output signal and a broad measuring range by providing a galvanic sensor on the rear end wall surface of a vortex generating body or near thereof while a protective plate is provided behind the sensor. CONSTITUTION:A vortex generating body 1 is fixed at the center of a cylindrical fluid passage 2 in such a manner that the rear end wall surface thereof makes a plane at the right angle of an air flow as fluid and a hot wire 3 as a galvanic sensor is provided at a position about 0.5mm. away from the rear end wall surface lengthwise with respect to the body 1. A protective plate about 3mm. thick is provided behind the hot wire 3. With such an arrangement, A Karman's vortex is generated alternately behind the vortex generating body 1 regularly thereby cyclically varying the temperature of the hot wire 3. Especially, the protective plate permits the detection of only the flow perpendicular to the flow of the fluid thereby ensuring a large output signal and a broad measuring range.
