Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable to start a main machine economically when a power source for a plant is interrupted, by a method wherein an air motor is rotated by compressed air being fed from a compressed-air container in a water power generation plant, and a pump for the oil lifter is driven by the air motor.
CONSTITUTION: The oil lifter consists of a usual pressure oil pump 4, which is driven by a motor 5 being driven by the power source for the plant, and a stand-by pressure oil pump 6 which is driven by the air motor 7 using the compressed air as a drive source. In usual conditions, the pump 4 for usual use is driven by the plant power source to feed pressure oil into the gap between a thrust bearing stationary plate 3 and a thrust bearing rotating plate 2 through a pressure oil pipe 9 and an oil film is formed, pushing up the rotating part. On the other hand, when the power source for the plant is interrupted, a compressed-air discharge valve 10 is opened and the compressed air is fed from the container 8 to the air motor 7 through a compressed-air pipe 11 for the air motor, whereby the stand-by pressure oil pump 6 is driven to supply the oil to the thrust bearing.
