Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the air-fuel ratio for the engine from being overconcentrated by a method wherein the air from an air cleaner is introduced into a passage for discharging the fuel vapor component removed from an adsorbent through scavenging.
CONSTITUTION: An air feed pipe line 42 for introducing the air in an element of the air cleaner 22 is connected at the midway to a fuel vapor into an air intake passage 28 from a canister 10 and a temperature sensing valve 40 operating at high temperatures is connected to the pipe line 42. When the engine works and the temperature of the engine room rises, the valve 40 opens and the air from the cleaner 22 is introduced into the fuel vapor discharge passage 34 via the air inlet pipe passage 40 to thereby dilute the fuel vapor. Consequently, the air-fuel ratio is prevented from becoming thickened and the increase of the unburned part of the exhaust gas is prevented.
