Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the transfer efficiency of a visible image by arranging an optical transmission member, made of a transparent material, closely to a photoreceptor surface in its widthwise direction. CONSTITUTION:Prior to transfer of a visible image, the irradiation of a photoreceptor 1 with uniform light is carried out by a uniform-light irradiating device 4 for the photoreceptor. The device 4 consists of an optical transmission member 4, a light source lamp 42, and a reflector 43, and the light source lamp 42 and reflector 43 constitute a light source system. Then, the optical transmission member 41 has an incidence end surface 41A and emission end surface 41B; the emission end surface 41B is formed in a slit shape and the length of this slit is a little bit greater than the width of the photoreceptor and a little bit longer than the emission end surface 41B. The optical transmission body 41 is arranged with the emission end surface 41B close to the photoreceptor surface.
