PURPOSE:To simplify a device by temporarily storing the digital waveform of a character broadcast signal, etc., inserted in the vertical flyback time of a TV signal in a memory, by reading it at a low speed, eliminating a ghost in a video period by such as a low-speed automatic equalizer. CONSTITUTION:To a terminal 20, a TV signal after demodulation having an inserted character broadcast signal in a vertical flyback time is inputted and the one- line signal of the input containing a character broadcast is brought under timing control 21 to be stored in an analog memory 22 at a high speed. The signal in the memory 22 is read out at a low speed and inputted to an automatic equalizer 100 to eliminate a ghost; and it is converted A/D-converted at a low speed and stored in a memory 24 as contents Xm. The contents Xm are processed by a convolution arithmetic circuit 26 through a discriminator 27 and correlator 29 to correct a filter coefficient to be stored in a memory 25.
