Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a metallic material having predetermined porosities by heating metal to a temp. at which solid phase parts of the metal coexist with liq. phase parts and the solid phase parts intertwist to keep mechanical strength and pressurizing one side of the metal with a pressurizing gas to discharge the liq. phase from the opposite side.
CONSTITUTION: Metallic material 1 is placed on sample holder 2, valves 12, 13, 17, 18 are worked to fill chambers 23, 24 with Ar gas, and a little gas is fed thereafter. Heating furnace 6 is operated to heat material 1 to a temp. corresponding to a predetermined solid phase rate so that the liq. phase has pores at a solid phase-liq. phase coexisting state and the prores connect with each other. The internal pressure of chamber 23 is then raised to 0.5W3atm, and Ar gas is passed through material 1 to separate the liq. phase from the solid phase and drop the liq. phase. Thus, parts corresponding to the liq. phase become pores, and the pores are connected with each other.
