Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce remarkably the time required for treating process so as to improve operation efficiency, in treating cast metallic material by hot hydrostatic press method, by conducting solution treatment simultaneously with the treatment described above.
CONSTITUTION: A cast article A made of Ni base or Co base alloy is put in a high press. chamber 4 composed of a high press. cylinder 1, an upper plug 2, a lower plug 3, and is placed in a heater 7 consisting of heat-insulating material 5 and plural heating elements 7aW7c. The cast article A is subjected to hot hydrostatic pressing at a temp. 1,100W1,220°C and under a gas press. 300W1,200kg/cm2, so that the voids are squeezed to make the structure dense, at the same time solution treatment of the article A is conducted, then the high press. gas is discharged. Low temp. inert gas such as Ar is then introduced through a pipe 10, and the article A taken out of the high press. chamber 4 is quenched by the injection of Ar gas from a multistage nozzle 9a to complete the solution treatment.
