Abstract
PURPOSE: To increase the efficiency of removal of copper from slag so as to reduce the copper loss in the slag, by blowing gaseous or liquid fuel (reducing agent) such as LPG, heavy oil together with air in an amount lese than specific air ratio into the molten metal contained in a metallurgical furnace.
CONSTITUTION: Molten slag 4, molten matte 5 separated from the slag 4 are contained in a furnace 1 and are kept at a constant temp. by electrodes 2. Gaseous or liquid reducing agent such as LPG or heavy oil is blown together with compressed air into the slag through hoses 6, 6' connected to lances 3 which are immersed to the suitable depth of the slag 4. The mixing ratio of the reducing agent and air is less than 1.0 air ratio (quantity of air/theoretical quantity of air), preferably about 0.3.
