Abstract
PURPOSE: Titled lightly colored dope composition that is produced by dissolving nitrocellulose which is previously wetted by adding a wetting agent to an organic solvent, depolymerizing with heat and removing the wetting agent after or before the depolymerization, thus being effectively reactive with isocyanate and permitting safe storage and handling.
CONSTITUTION: Nitrocellulose is wetted with a wetting agent such as an alcohol/ or water to contain less than 50% of the agent and combined with an organic solvent, which is inert to isocyanate and dissolves nitrocellulose, such as ethyl acetate or acetone to prepare a solution of 5W50% concentration. Then, after the wetting agent is distilled off, the dope is heated in the presence of hydrogen peroxide to effect depolymerization or after the depolymerization is effect in the presence of hydrogen peroxide, the wetting agent is removed, thus giving a dope containing 10W80%, preferably 10W70% nitrocellulose. The amount of hydrogen peroxide is 0.1W30% based on the nitrocellulose.
EFFECT: The amount of the thinner can be reduced and this means that it has advantage from resource-saving and environmental point of view.
