Abstract
PURPOSE:To make it high-speed and to covert it to low power consumption by utilizing a light as a medium in a A/D converter. CONSTITUTION:A rays 3 from a light source 2 is divided with a beam splitter 4, and divided rays 5-8 are made incident to optical modulators 9-12. Each of the optical modulators 9-12 has input-output characteristics where a light output (a quantity of transmitted light) repeats its increase the decrease with an increase of an electric input level applied to an input terminal for the modulator, but each of half-wavelength voltage V1-V4 of the repetitive period is different and has a relation of Vi+1/Vi=2.
