Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the blooming resistance and to obtain high resolution and high S-N ratio or the like, by connecting the 3rd charge transfer means which discharges electric charges other than a prescribed optical signal charge to the horizontal transfer means. CONSTITUTION:The 3rd transfer gate 314 is provided adjacent to a horizontal shift register 312 and the 3rd gate input line 315 is formed by the common connection of the gates. Further, a drain is provided at another end of the gate 314 and a sweep drain line 316 is obtained through the common connection. After removing most of blooming charges due to incident light, the gate 314 is turned off, and pulses for self-bias charge transfer are fed to pulse input lines 37, 38, 310, 311 during the next horizontal flyback time of the horizontal scanning period. Therefore, it is transferred to the register 312 through storage N and all the remaining blooming charges are discharged to the sweep drain line 316 through the gate 314.
