Abstract
PURPOSE:To shorten slow cooling time without lowering dehydrogenation efficiency by slow cooling a high-temp. steel material after hot working down to specific temp. in a hermetically adiabatic state thence force-cooling the same. CONSTITUTION:A high-temp. steel material after hot working, for example, a high- temp. billet of steel material for pipes and bars is contained in a hermetically closable pit type or cover type slow cooling furnace. It is slow cooled in a region about <=500 deg.C where hydrogen diffusion is high in the adiabatic state, if possible, whereby about >=60% of the hydrogen contained is removed. Thence, cooling wind is blown into the slow cooling furnace, whereby the billet is subjected to force-cooling.Thereby, the required cooling time is reduced by about >=30% without lowering dehydrogenation efficiency.
