Abstract

PURPOSE: To crosslink a polyolefin containing a filler with good workability, by milling a silane grafted polyolefin and a polyolefin containing fillers in an extruder to mold to a desired shape and thereafter bringing the molded item into contact with water containing a silanol condensation catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: 100pts.wt. Polyolefin, about 0.1W15pts.wt. unsaturated silane (e.g. vinyltriethoxysilane) and about 0.01W1pt.wt. radical generating agent are heated and milled to form a silane grafted polyolefin (A). On the other hand, 100pts.wt. polyolefin and about 10W600pts.wt. filler (e.g. talc) are heated and milled to form a polyolefin composition (B). Next, the above-mentioned components A and B are milled in an extruder to mold to a desired shape, and thereafter the molded item is brought into contact with water containing about 0.01W5% silanol condensation catalyst (e.g. dibutyltin dilaurate) to carry out crosslinking.
