Abstract
PURPOSE: To manufacture molded articles having improved weatherability, transparency, and color, by crosslinking a blend of (A) a master batch comprising hydroxymethoxy-benzophenone and a silanol condensation catalyst with (B) a silicone graft polyolefin.
CONSTITUTION: (A) Silicone graft polyolefin pellets are incorporated with (B) a master batch of (a) 100 parts by wt. of an amorphous polyolefin, (b) 1.0W100 parts by wt., preferably 2.0W5.0 parts by wt. of 2-hydroxy-4-methoxy benzophenone (HMB) and/or 2-hydroxy-4-octoxy benzophenone (HOB), (c) 1,0W10.0 parts by wt. of a silanol condensation catalyst, and, if necessary, (d) 0.5-50.0 parto by wt., preferably 3.0W10.0 parts by wt. of a weather-resistant carbon, and (e) 1.0W 5.0 parts by wt. of other antioxidants so that HMB and/or HOB contents may be 0.1-1.0% of the total weight. The blend is extruded into a given shape and crosslinked in the bresence of a very small amount of water
