Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled gel having improved endermic absorption and antiinflammatory effect, good stability to a gel base, improved solubility, and feeling in use, comprising ketoprofen as an active ingredient.
CONSTITUTION: A mixture consisting of 0.5W5wt% ketoprofen shown by the formula, a glycol (e.g., propylene glycol, etc.), a lower alcohol (e.g., ethanol, etc.), water or a blend of lower alcohol and water, and a gelatinizing agent (e.g., carboxyvinyl polymer, etc.) is optionally blended with a solubilizer (e.g., propylene carbonate, etc.) and a nonionic surface active agent (e.g., sorbitan sesquio leate, etc.) to give a blend which is gelatinized to give an antiinflammatory and pain-killing gel. The gel is stable while being stored for a long time, and shows remedying effects with improved pain-killing and antiinflammatory action when it is applied to the skin in use.
