Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the impeller from moving upward with respect to a rotor shaft by a method wherein a thin cylindrical sleeve having a plurality of longitudinal slots is fitted about the rotor shaft in such a manner that as the number of revolutions of the rotor shaft increases, one end of the sleeve is coupled integrally to the rotor shaft and the other end thereof is couled integrally to the impeller so that the sleeve is subjected to a torsional force.
CONSTITUTION: When the thin cylindrical sleeve 4 coupled integrally to the rotor shaft 1 at its one end and to the impeller at its other end and having the longitudinal slots 9 on the outer circumference thereof is subjected to rotary torques in opposite directions at both ends thereof, respectively, the intermediate portion of the sleeve having the slots 9 is twisted and the inner periphery of the sleeve 4 comes into full and close contact with the rotor shaft 1. On the other hand, as the number of revolutions of the rotor shaft increases, the diameter of the center hole of the impeller 2 becomes large due to a centrifugal force and the impeller is brought under an astable condition. However, with the distortion of the sleeve 4, the axial length of the sleeve is shortened so that the impeller 2 is prevented from moving upward due to its inclined surfaces 10 and 11 which come into close contact with one of the ends of the sleeve 4.
