Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable to indicate the water temperature clearly by a method wherein a signal generated by a water-temperature sensor is converted into a voltage level, the temperature of engine-cooling water is detected by comparing the voltage level with a reference voltage, and the temperature detected is indicated by a light-emitting member. CONSTITUTION:An output V from the water-temperature sensor 2 is impressed on the noninversion input side of a voltage comparator 9 and is compared with the reference voltage E1 which is impressed on the inversion input side of the comparator 9. When V>E1, a signal ''1'' is generated from the comparator 9 and is fed to an input register 16 of a controller 13, whereby output registers 14 and 15 are set at ''0'' and ''1'', respectively, and a voltage E2 corresponding to the ratio between the electric resistances of voltage-dividing resistors 11, 12 is impressed on the inversion input terminal of the comparator 9. Then, the voltage E2 and the voltage V are compared with each other, and when V>E2, a signal ''1'' is generated from the comparator 9, whereby a lamp 26 is turned on through a transistor 23 to indicate that the water temperature is not lower than about 40 deg.C. Similarly, a lamp 27 or a lamp 28 is turned on according as the water temperature is 41-109 deg.C or is not lower than 110 deg.C.
