On the other hand, a valve 56 is opened by releasing the pressure in the control chamber 58a in the air and a small amount of inert gas is fed from the small valve port 53a. Subsequently, a specified amount of mercury G is dropped from a mercury filling nozzle 71. Then a valve 5a opens in a short time and the mercury G in a groove 41 is charged into the fluorescent pipe V by the flow pressure of inert gas.
