Abstract
PURPOSE: To perform accurate inspection efficiently by scanning the surface of a cylindrical body, supported rotatably, with a sensor moved by a pulse motor and by comparing a detection signal pattern with a reference signal pattern.
CONSTITUTION: For example, when the external ring 3 of a ball bearing rotates through a roller 1 and stops at a prescribed position, a sensor 4 starts scanning between surfaces 32 and 33 of the external ring 3 through a pulse motor 5. The output of the sensor 4 where optical fibers for photodetection and projection are arranged at random is passed through an amplifier 7 and a binary encoding circuit 8 and then inputted to a discriminating logical circuit 9 as a digital signal 81. Simultaneously with the pulse signal of a pulse signal generating circuit 6, the movement extent signal of the sensor 4 is inputted to the circuit 9 and at the same time, a reference pattern signal is also inputted from a storage circuit 10. A detection signal pattern and a reference signal pattern are compared mutually for inspection. Thus, the accurate inspection is achieved efficiently.
