Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a colorful Al product having partial plated surfaces and having three-dimensional feel by applying anodic oxidation coloring and sealing treatment to part of the surface of an Al base material to form nonconductive patterns thence subjecting the same to plating treatment.
CONSTITUTION: An anodically oxidized coating is formed over the entire surface on one side of an Al substrate 1, and is partly dyed 2' to draw desired patterns 2 such as characters. Masking parts 5 for resist are provided on the surface of these patterns 2, and the substrate is immersed in an etching agent soln., thereby exposing the metallic conductive surface of the Al ground. Next, the masking parts 5 are removed, or without removing these, plating treatment is applied to adhesively form a bright plating surface of a desired color of Ni, Cr, copper or the like over the entire surface of the conductive Al metallic surface parts 4 by leaving the anodically oxidized coating parts 2. Thence, the unremoved masking parts 5 are removed, and the entire part is cleaned and dried to make product.
