Abstract
PURPOSE: To facilitate controlling of the amount of sludge withdrawal in a wide range and improve the treatment rate by submerging the overflow port of a telescopic type overflow valve then regulating the amount of sludge withdrawal from a sedimentation basin by vertically moving the level of the water into which it is submerged.
CONSTITUTION: The existing outflow port of a sludge discharge channel 4 is closed, and a telescopic type overflow valve 1 is submerged. The amount of sludge withdrawal from a sedimentation basin 2 is regulated by vertically moving the water level of the channel 4 in place of vertically moving the valve 1. The difference in water level between the basin 2 and the channel 4 and the amount of sludge withdrawal have a fixed relation, and in order to obtain a desired amount of withdrawal, this is substituted with a water level difference and a water level regulator is so controlled as to obtain said water level difference. It is equally well to use an electrically driven gate for the water level regulator, and in the case of a pump, it may be a ground type, in lieu of a submersible pump, and it is equally well to use an another pump for returning the sludge.
