Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the mixing-in of dust at the time of replacement of a filter by making cleansing liquid flow reversely to the direction of supply of ink by means of a switching valve and by removing thereby dust from the fine ones to the coarse ones sequentially. CONSTITUTION:When the recording device is employed for a prescribed time or when a filter clogging detection signal is delivered, the ink-jet recording device is stopped, the switching valves 151 and 152 are switched to a cleansing liquid supply channel, a cleansing liquid supply pump 16 is made to operate and the cleansing liquid is made to flow from a cleansing liquid tank 17 to a waste liquid tank 20 through valves 21, 151, a fine filter 41, a coarse filter 43 and the valve 142. By making the cleansing liquid flow reversely to the direction of the flow of ink in this way, the dust is removed from the fine ones to the coarse ones sequentially and made to flow into the waste liquid tank 20. After cleansing is completed, the valve 152 is returned to a original position, the valve 21 is switched to the side of the tank 22 and ink is made to flow. Then the cleansing liquid is washed away into the tank 22. Thereafter the valves 151 and 22 are returned back to original position and ordinary recording is conducted.
