Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a distilling column adapted for reducing the pressure loss across the column and moderating the operating conditions by the liquid stagnating on liquid-receiving shelves, by a construction wherein packed beds and the liquid- receiving shelves consisting of weirless perforated plates are placed in a main body of the column.
CONSTITUTION: Liquid raw material fed into the main body 1 of the distilling column through a raw-material inlet 2 is caused to flow downward through a distributing plate 7 and the packed bed 8 therebeneath, while rectifying the raw material by vapor 6 which flows upward through the main body 1. The distillate stagnating on the liquid-receiving shelf 9 is redispersed into the packed bed 8 beneath the shelf 9. After successively repeating the above procedure, the effluent is taken out through an effluent outlet 4. Then, a part of the effluent is heated by a revoiler 11 and is fed into a lower part of the main body 1. On the other hand, the vapor having been contacted with the raw material for rectification is recovered through a distillate outlet 3 and is condensed 10, while a portion of condensate is refluxed into the upper part of the main body 1.
