Abstract
PURPOSE:To eliminate a mechanical moving part and to simplify and miniaturize a structure, by a method wherein an exciting coil and an output coil are mounted at a saturable magnetic paths which are positioned so that they meet at right angles with each other in the plane of the horizone. CONSTITUTION:Two saturable magnetic paths 4, 4, which meet at right angles to each other in the plane of the horizone, and coils 3, which have a phase difference of 45 deg. to each other and is excited by means of an alternating current having an amplitude which sufficiently saturates the saturable magnetic paths 4, 4, are provided. An output coil 5, which is common to the two saturable magnetic paths 4, 4, is wound, and an alternating current output, which has 2 times the number of frequencies as many as those of an alternating current energized to a phase angle corresponding to an angle between an earth magnetic field and the direction of the saturable magnetic paths 4, 4, is generated. The direction of the earth magnetic field is detected through the detection of said phase angle.
