Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the packing effect of molding sand and to make the core of intricate shapes moldable with precise dimensional accuracy by applying pressurizing by weights and longitudinal and transverse vibrations by a vibrating table to molding sand in molding an annular core for casting a tubular body by a centrifugal casting method.
CONSTITUTION: Molding sand is packed in a centering machine 3 forming a core molding space 18 by a back metal 1 and a centering machine body 2. This is placed on a vibrating table 6, and a funnel 11 is placed thereon. Molding sand is put therein and multiple weights 17 are placed over the entire circumference on the top surface thereof. In this state, the table 6 is started to apply vibrations in the vertical and horizontal directions to the machine 3. The molding sand in the machine 3 is given the vertical and lateral vibrations, and is continuously pressurized by the weights 17; therefore, the molding sand is surely packed to the detailed parts of intricate shapes on the inside surface of the machine 3, whereby the core of high dimensional accuracy is molded.
