Abstract

PURPOSE: To form efficiently a T-joint having a high branch tube by performing branching work in a plug drawing-out method after protruding the part of a straight tube to be branched by pressing it from the inside of the tube with a plug.
CONSTITUTION: Precisely round blank tube 1 is gripped vertically between dies 20 and 21. Mandrel 11, while wedge 16 is moved back to a rearmost position with plug 14 up, inserted into raw tube 1 and stopper 12 is set in contact with die 21. As wedge 16 is moved forth by a displacer, plug 14 presses the tube wall from the inside to protrude the tube wall in the diameter direction through hole 22 made in upper die 20. After prescribed extent (h) of protrusion, wedge 16 is moved back to the original position and plug 14 is made to fit into a recess part made in mandrel 11 by its own weight. After mandrel 11 is drawn out, a through-hole is made in the center of the protrusion and branching work is carried out in the conventional plug drawing-out method.
