Abstract

PURPOSE: To rationalize drawing work by arraying a rifle pipe drawing die and a preliminary wall working die coaxially and performing preliminary wall working and finish drawing in one process in cold drawing of a rifle pipe.
CONSTITUTION: In manufacturing a rifle pipe by cold working the inside surface of a blank pipe, a drawing die 2 and a preliminary wall working die 3 are arrayed coaxially within a die holder 1. The blank pipe 12 is inserted through both dies 2, 3, and an assembly of a rifle pipe drawing plug 4 and a preliminary wall working plug 5 mounted to the same plug holding rod 6 is engaged therein. The other end of the plug holding rod is held by the bearing 7' of a bearing 7. With this device, the blank pipe 12 is subjected to continuous rifle pipe drawing simultaneously with prescribed preliminary wall working by cold drawing in reducing, surface preparation and drawing processes, whereby the drawing of the rifle pipe is completed in one process.
