Abstract

PURPOSE: To raise performances by giving a high-fuel injection rate to either advantageous of precombustionand whirl chambers of one cylinder.
CONSTITUTION: A whirl chamber 2 and a precombustion chamber 3 are formed separately from cylinder center axis in a cylinder head for one cylinder and interconnected by the communicating holes 8 and 9 thereof. The fuel supply rate of a fuel distributor is adjusted to the running condition of an engine. Namely, chamber 2 or 3 side fuel injection rate is set high at a low load range or at the range higher than the range respectively. When control is performed thus, the characteristics of chamber 2 or 3 type diesel engine mainly appear at the low or high load range of the engine to reduce smoke generation rate.
