Abstract

PURPOSE: To raise combustion efficiency through the differential timing of the fuel injection into a plurality of whirl chambers.
CONSTITUTION: A cylinder head 1 is provided with a small whirl chamber 2 and a large whirl chamber 3. Fuel injector valves 4 and 5 are provided present in the chambers 2 and 4 respectively. The fuel injection timing and rate of the chamber 2 are set slightly earlier and lower respectively than those of the other 3. A preheating plug 6 is protruded in the chamber 2, and a hardened metal projecting portion 7 into the chamber 3 combinedly with a pipe sleeve 9 having a communicating hole 8. Therefore, fuel is injected into the chamber 2 via a fuel injection valve 4 before the upper dead point of compression and carried by while mixed with the whirl flow of compressed air for good ignition. The expansion pressure generated at this time suddenly boosts the pressure of the gas in a main combustion chamber 10 so that the gas is ignited properly because of the effect of high-pressure and high temperature.
