PURPOSE:To monitor an original length in the receiving side to relax restrictions of original length, by counting line synchronizing signals in a facsimile communication adopting the redundancy suppression coding system. CONSTITUTION:After the line between facsimile signal transmission device 1 and receiving device 21 is set by the telephone set function, the facsimile picture signal is transfrred to receiving device 21. The received facsimile picture signal is transferred to storage device 23, and the line synchronizing signal and the page end signal are detected from this picture signal, and the result is reported to common control device 22 each time. Common control device 22 counts the synchronizing signal; and when the page end signal is reported, the count result of line synchronizing signal, namely, the number of scanning lines at this time is reported to central processing device 25. When the number of scanning lines during receiving exceeds the reference value per one page, common control device 22 issues the transmission stop instruction to facsimile signal transmission device 1.
