Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to transmit picture imformation by making use of the idle time of a general telephone circuit.
CONSTITUTION: As for the signal of voice handset 10A, transmitting signal level detector 14 detects its existence. When it exists, switches 13A and 13C are in states as shown in Fig. and the discrimination signal from discrimination signal generator 15 is band-superposed upon the transmitting signal of voice handset 10A and sent out to transmission line 17. When no signal exists, on the other hand, switches 13A and 13C are both switched to send out a signal from still picture transmitter-receiver 12, but no discrimination signal is sent out. At the reception side, discrimination signal receiver 16' detects the existence of the signal. In case of the existence of the discrimination signal, the signal from transmission line 17 is received by voice signal receiver 10B' and in case of no signal, on the other hand, a connection to the receiver circuit of still picture transmitter-receiver 12' is made and the regenerated picture appears on monitor 11b'.
